Fort Osage was the second US outpost built following the Louisiana Purchase. During its 19 years of use, the fort received explorers, US dignitaries, trappers, traders, and the great Native American leaders.
The original fort no longer stands; what we got to see is a reconstruction based on the original plans.
This place is very cool and had a nice visitor center and a couple of living history staff that had some interesting information about the time period to share.
If you are in the area, this is worth a visit.
