Recruits Gaming Convention Pictures

I got to make a trip to Lee's Summit, MO for the Recruits gaming convention at the end of September.  It is held at the local high school so is nice and cheap ($5 for the weekend).  There are a nice variety of games including historical, sci-fi, and fantasy.  There are tournaments and open gaming, but in my opinion the best part is all the game scenarios that people set up and run through-out the weekend.  There are various vendors and a silent auction as well.  I always find a good deal or two.

I have a group of friends that typically attend this event and I have been going to this convention when I can for the past 3 years.  The convention used to be held twice a year; spring and fall, but is now a once a year event in the fall.

I took a few pictures of some of the games at the convention and thought I would share them.  This is not a definitive collection of photos of all the games.

Dungeon Heroes - Game review

I picked up a copy of Dungeon Heroes by Gamelyn Games a few months ago at my local game store Gauntlet Games.  It is a game for 1 or 2 players and says it will play in 15-30 minutes.

I finally got around to playing it and I liked it.  It is a pretty light game, but still fun.  I would say it is really a deception/deduction game with a dungeon theme.

The box and components are all very nicely made.  The box is very sturdy and the tiles are all thick card board.  The meeples are wood and make nice representations of the characters and monsters they represent.

The heroes are exploring the dungeon and their goal is to find 3 of the 4 treasures in the dungeon before they are all killed.  The dungeon is trying to kill them all.

The hero player starts with 4 characters; a warrior, a cleric, a thief, and a wizard.  Each has a special power that will help them to find the treasures.  The warrior can fight monsters, the cleric can heal heroes, the thief can disable traps, and the wizard can reveal tiles.

Each player gets 4 actions on their turn.  Of the hero players 4 actions, a hero can only do 2 actions per turn.  The dungeon player places tiles until he is out and then can start flipping tiles and activating monsters.  A monster can only be activated once per turn.

The game is simple to play, but offers a fun, quick game.  We played in about 20 minutes.  Depending on how things go, it can take less or more time.

If you get a chance, check this game out.
