Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Royal Guard

Here are the Royal Guard models that I promised.

These were primed white and then painted with 2 coats of red.  It takes 2 coats to get a consistent covering.  After that dried, I painted the weapons with a light grey.  Finally, I covered the whole model with a black wash.

They don't look great up close, but they work well on the tabletop.

Now the break from the regularly scheduled Epic models is complete.  We now return you to more tiny soldiers.

I've enjoyed painting the Imperial Assault models so plan to come back to them soon.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Gaarkan

I have not put paint to any of the Imperial Assault models for a while since I've been focusing on my Epic 40K armies.

I decided to take a small break from Epic and grabbed a model from the box.

I decided on the wookie hero as I figured he would be pretty easy to paint.  I was right and I'm pleased with the results.

The ax is a bit crooked.  It was broken from the ceiling tile that fell on my table and my repair was not quite perfect.

I primed the model white and then painted all of the wookie fur a light brown.  I painted his belt and suspenders a darker brown and the painted the belt buckle, front armor plate, shoulder pads, and ax silver.  I then painted his teeth bone.  I washed the whole model with a brown wash.

Not a masterful paint job, but it will look nice on the table surrounded by other models with simple paint jobs.  :)

I plan to get the royal guard models painted before I go back to my Epic projects.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Storm Trooper

The next model on my quest to paint everything in the Imperial Assault board game is a group of Storm Troopers.  I painted up one, but am not sure I like how it looks.  I tried a different method that I've used before

I started by priming the model white.

Next I painted the gun black and the areas between the armor plate black.

Next I painted a grey line around everything.  All the creases and lines got a grey line.

Here is the result of all my work.  I painted the should pad blue and dry brushed it with a lighter blue.  The gun was also dry brushed with a light grey.  I added gravel to the base and painted it brown.  The base still needs a drybrush and a little bit of flock.

This design is staring to grow on me.  I wasn't sure at first, but I think I'm good with it now.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Probe Droid

I got the Star Wars: Imperial Assault board game a few weeks ago.  I've played a couple of games so far and am very impressed with the game.  I really like the mechanics for campaigns and have started two with different groups.

I've decided I want to paint the miniatures.  The first one to hit the paint table was one of the probe droids.  I like these models and I think the paint job turned out well.

Pretty basic paint job here.  Based the model black and then dry brushed a dark grey and then a light grey.  Picked out a few details for a little color and I'm done.  I painted the base grey, but will probably do something more at some point.

The game has exterior and interior tiles so I'm not sure what to do.  I will probably go with a gravel base with bits of greenery.

Your thoughts on the basing would be appreciated.
