Assault on a Crossroad - Bolt Action 7-26-15

Bill put together a game of Bolt Action for us to play a few weeks ago.  I took a few pictures, but haven't had a chance to post them until now.

Generally, I like the Bolt Action rules.  We don't really play competitively and mostly just set up scenario based games.  These rules work well for that and we fudge the rules a little when it is appropriate.  The forces may not be balanced, but it was a good game.

The Germans have control of a crossroad that the Americans need in order to move supplies and troops inland.  The Americans are trying to take control of it, while the Germans are trying to maintain their hold.

This Pak 40 was a beast and did a lot of damage to the US tanks.
This guy helped to finish off the US tanks.
The US forces pushed the Germans back from their position behind the wall and take the wall for their own cover.
The tanks are smoking because they are all dead.  The German guns have us outclassed.

The US forces lost their tank support, but the infantry did a great job (and were very lucky).  However, with out the tank support, they just couldn't get dislodge the Germans.  The commander pulled the forces out before everyone was lost in the doomed assault.  He plans to regroup his forces and call in some reinforcements and try a different approach next time.

  1. If I were the American commander, as soon as I saw the first Jadpanther I would have backed off and called in air support. There was no way he was going to be able to dislodge the Germans with the forces he had at hand.

  2. Sounds like good advice. I will remember that for next time.
